In November 2024, school residency by ludovic hadjeras with students from École des Tuileries, Altkirch.
ludovic hadjeras develops a research and creation project based on the relationship between living beings and their environment for thrid grade classes. Through exercises of mimesis and observation, from the smallest to the largest organisms, the students explore questions of trace, ephemerality and the strange space between the visible and the invisible.
Constantly on the move, ludovic hadjeras lives and works in different countries. He sees the werewolf as a hybrid being capable of calming the tensions between humans and wolves, and associates this figure with that of the French-Algerian racially mixed. ludovic hadjeras learns to become a werewolf; his work is akin to a quest for a crossed identity, involving a (de)construction of knowledge, since he was not born a wolf, and part of his Algerian heritage has not been passed on to him. As his metamorphosis progressed, his desire to become a werewolf expanded to include other in-between figures, whose stories fuel his artistic practice. His work, in the form of sculptures, videos, constellated installations and writing, translates the inter-species encounters and collaborations experienced during these attempts at hybridization, giving the opportunity to see, feel or imagine other forms of cohabitation.
This residency is supported by DRAC—Ministère de la Culture and DAAC Académie de Strasbourg. It is led in collaboration with Christine Gérard, teacher.
