In February 2018, publication of the exhibition booklet IL PLEUT, TULIPE., designed by Charles Mazé & Coline Sunier, with texts by Elfi Turpin.
Graphic design for the collective exhibition IL PLEUT, TULIPE. was done by Charles Mazé & Coline Sunier. The booklet, 98 pages long, measures 7,5 cm by 10,5 cm. It includes a general presentation of the exhibition and texts on each individual work. Texts were translated into English by John Tittensor.
The twenty-four Japanese characters printed in this booklet, filmed by Elise Florenty & Marcel Türkowsky for Conversation with a Cactus (サホテンとの会話, 2017) are hiraganas. Together with katakana, kanji and rōmaji, they are a component of the Japanese writing system. Each hiragana character represents a syllable, which may be a single vowel (e.g. あ = a) or a consonant followed by a vowel (e.g. か = ka); there is also the syllabic n (ん), whose pronunciation varies according to the syllable following it. All forty-six hiraganas were scattered on the invitation cards of the exhibition.
