On Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at 2.30pm, talk with the artist Nicolas Boone invited by the No Name group of Haute école des arts du Rhin (HEAR), organized in the context of the program Les martinets dorment en volant.
After graduating from the Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2001, Nicolas Boone made shootings/performances, "films for once" without a camera. His work, between staging and recording (where, sometimes, the shooting becomes the film itself) is protean: series (BUP, 2007/2008), feature film in co-direction released in theatres in 2013 (200%), short films ,brought together in the same programme (Les Dépossédés, 2012)... His films, which were the subject of a complete retrospective at the Vivo Art Center in Vancouver in 2011, have been selected at many festivals, including Le Rêve de Bailu (2013; presented in 2015 at the Rotterdam and Jeonju International Film Festivals, as well as at IndieLisboa) or Hillbrow, presented (among others) in 2014 at FID Marseille, the Mostra Indies Festival in Sao Paulo, at the Festival du Nouveau Cinéma de Montréal (1st prize Loup Argenté), at the festival Entrevue in Belfort (public prize, One+One prize, Camira prize) and, in 2015, at the Festival international du film court de Clermont-Ferrand and at the Lago Film Fest (Italy; First prize of the jury). This film also won the Scribe Film Prize in December 2014. In the fall of 2015, he was part of an exhibition at La Galerie de Noisy-le-Sec. Psaume, produced in 2015, was selected for the FID (French Competition; CNAP and high school students' prizes), the Viennale and the RIDM. Le Rêve de Bailu, Hillbrow and Psaume were screened at the UnionDocs Center for Documentary Art (Brooklyn) in November 2015.
