On Saturday, March 16, 2014 at 4pm, talk with Seulgi Lee, as part of Contemporary Art Weekend Alsace.
Eating rice pudding lying down (doing something effortlessly) / Zucchini rolling in the door (unhoped-for riches) / Licking a watermelon (botching a job) / Showing a duck's foot (Feigning innocence): here, a series of visually evocative Korean proverbs find concrete expression in geometrically patterned quilts made in the traditional manner.
Seulgi Lee's works call for the perception of objects according to their linguistic mode, transferring the spectator's point of view into that of the object underlying an idea.
