In March and April 2017, school residency by Gérard Meurant with students from École maternelle d'Emlingen.
Through a collaborative process with the students, Gérard Meurant experimented with sculpture and image, challenging bodies and moving space. A workshop within the school was the site of various explorations involving students in the research process. Engaging in a practice that questions images and temporalities, Gérard Meurant and the students explored various forms of collective work.
Gérard Meurant, born in 1983 in Namur (Belgium), studied at ERG (Ecole de recherche graphique) in Brussels. He was awarded First Prize at Médiatine in 2014, has had a solo exhibition in Maac, Jozsa Gallery (Brussels) and participated in group exhibitions at: PM 15#1, Manifeste pour une création visuelle actuelle, Centre wallonie-Bruxelles Paris; Netwerk Project (24h project), Établissement d’en face & ERG, Brussels; Anger Management, Komplot, Brussels (Curator: Benjamin Jaubert); Don't Feed The Artists, They Already Have Too Much To Digest (with Jessica Baxter), TRUST: Copenhagen Art Festival, Copenhagen (Curator: Sonia Dermience); Incidence & Ainsi Danse (with Elektronisch Volume), Angle Art Contemporain, Saint-Paul-Trois-Chateaux (Curator: Thierry Mouillé); Point of View, Galerie Frédéric Desimpel, Brussels; Black & Vases, Komplot, Bruxelles.
This residency received the support of GIP Acmisa—Académie de Strasbourg. It was led by Geneviève Hengy & Lucienne Romann, teachers.
